Default Memory Leak ?

Hi,

I started deadlevelling on a presearing character.
So I leave My PC running afk whole night.

This morning when i went to check Ifound a low on virtual memory message.
When I tried to open GW it quit with an out of memory message.

I have 1Gb Ram. GW during normal play never gives me problems.
I do tend to play for extended time occationally.

Therefore, I suspect the problem occurred because I left the game minimised.

Anyone else have experience with this ?

I'll try again and leave the window open.
I'll edit this with my findings if I find anything interesting.

Get more memory!

There are no 100% leak free software.

Yeah, there appear to be a problem with either GW or with drivers, because I also get those "out of memory" errors when the game has been on for a full day. As I've not seen many people report this, I'd be inclined to suspect the drivers, either nVidias (for my graphics) or, perhaps even more likely, Creatives (for my sound).

@lightblade: most software is leak free.

When running GW make sure that only these programs are running:

1 Guild Wars (obviously)
2 Windows (again obviously)
3 your firewall (I use Zonealarm and have no problems at all)
4 your antivirus (I use AVG antivirus with no problems)

These programs are the absolute minimum that have to be running, most other programs may and occasionaly cause problems. I do use vent and teamspeak and have had very few problems when I as actualy online, but when I go afk I will turn them off. More memory doesn't mean a guaranteed fix but can help out. My suggestion is to turn off anything that is unecessary while playing GW and go with that.

Over time, the game will use up some more memory and leak... it's nearly unavoidable for all programs. I'd recommend turning gw off if you're out at class, etc. - saves energy and doesn't push your computer as hard. Unfortunately you can't really do that when deathlevelling, but it's still good to reboot gw every now and then during your marathon sessions.

As others pointed out, it could be GW, or other programs eating up the memory.

Do control alt delete -> task manager, look at processes tab and look for gw.exe
Leave on for a few hours, then see how much mem it's using.
